187. Changing 3 to 9

Easy Medium Hard Extreme


How would you change the value of the 3 matchsticks to 9 without breaking any sticks? All sticks don't have to be flat on the surface and you may only move 2 sticks.

    I just wanted to point out: The matchsticks are not "flat on the table" as per the instructions if two of the matchsticks are crossed to form the Roman numeral X.

    The instruction is "all sticks don't have to be flat on the surface"...
